On 12 December 2022, CBWNet researchers Kristoffer Burck, Barry de Vries and Sannimari Veini presented in Geneva their research on “The Legal Effect of the BWC Review Conferences”. Participants at the side event, which took place during the final week of the 9th Review Conference of the Biological Weapons Convention (BWC), discussed the legal basis and relevance of review conferences. The CBWNet researchers addressed legal processes and responded to questions from diplomatic delegations and civil society representatives, many of which were related to potential implications of different decision-making procedures.
